Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Guadalupe Hernandez and Manuel Quintana (1875-1935). After the death of his mother in May 1933, two-year old Lupe was raised by his father's sister Donaciana Quintana de Alcala. After Donaciana's death in 1938 her son Mauro Alcala assumed sole responsibility for raising Lupe.

Mauro Alcala (Memorial #145844640) married Maria Lydia Garza (Memorial #145844669) in 1939 and they raised Lupe into adulthood.

Lupe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lupita L. Quintana; his daughters, Analicia (Mike) Garcia and Marianela (Calvin) Walker; and the 3 grandchildren that were the apple of his eye: Miguel Garcia, Analicia Mariela Garcia and Calvin Walker. Lupe will also be missed by his five sisters: Donaciana Alcala, Magdalena "Nena" Alcala, Minerva Longoria, Delia Garza, and Olga Martinez, and by two surviving biological siblings: Ernestina Quintana de Loya and Agustin "Tino" Alcala.
