She was born in Wilmington on April 30, 1939, to the late James Harriss Davis and Margaret Elizabeth Seiter Davis. Remembered are her husband, her sister Mary 'Frances' Davis Worrell and her beloved nephew, James Herbert Worrell. Margaret lived in Wilmington her entire life and graduated from New Hanover High School in 1957 where she was a member of the Thespians and the marching band. She loved Wrightsville Beach and enjoyed many house parties during her teen years. She married Frank "Wrinkle Belly" Wilton Kelly on New Year's Day 1962. They were married 35 years until his death in 1997. She raised two daughters while working full time and running the household. She was cook, seamstress, guidance counselor, and chauffeur extraordinaire. She worked for the Lower Cape Fear Council of Government until 1980 when she took over her father's business, AAA Hearing Aids. Working side by side with her father was a source of pride and joy. She was a member of the NC Academy of Hearing Rehabilitation. She was a volunteer at Thalian Hall and sang for 18 years with the Harmony Belles Choral Group. These women were her friends, confidantes and a source of comfort when her sister, also a member, died. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Kelly LaFon and husband Artie, and Donna Kelly, and stepson Dwight 'Squeeky' Kelly. Over the years he truly became her son. Also surviving is her older brother, James 'Jimmie' Harriss Davis, Jr. She was the apple of his eye. Also a very special niece Laurie Anne Worrell Link. Margaret was a wonderful grandmother to Sara Elizabeth Milligan, Rachel Walker, Lauren D. Lonergan (spouse Joe), Thad Smith, and Austin LaFon and great-granchildren, Noah Riley Cox, Avery C. Lonergan and J. Tanner Lonergan, and Conner Nigel. Her home was always open to them. She was a source of strength and support for them. A special thanks to the Harmony Belles and her three best friends for over 50 years, Donna Sue Christmas, Dixie Bass Garner, and Jane M. Kelley. Also the staff at Hanover Medical Specialists Oncology, Dr. Arb, DeLayne Godwin, FNP, and staff at 8 South NHRMC.
