She is survived by husband Daniel A. Arbuckle and son Gavin, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Clarence and sister Kathleen.
She attended Normal School in Fredericton, NB, and was a teacher in Northumberland County for a number of years, after which she took a business course and moved to Ottawa to work. In 1938 Doreen wrote her Civil Service examinations and received the highest ranking in the Civil Service List.
She had a keen interest in family history and wrote two books in the area. The Northwest Miramichi and The Arbuckles of East Wawanosh. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Ottawa in which she took a very active part. She was a part-time secretary as well as being one of the first women to serve on the deacons board.
Funeral arrangements were in care of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry funeral home in Ottawa. Her ashes will be returned to New Brunswick later in the spring where she will rest.
