The Lord called him home on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 in Bangor. Elmer was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Hart, the son of Boyd and Hazel (Havener) Goss and is a longtime resident of Bangor. On Aug. 17, 1940 Elmer married Kathryn Moore, and together they had 4 children. He was an active member and elder of Bangor Church of Christ, was an electrician and building contractor and put in two subdivisions, 18 unit apartments, and over 50 homes in the Bangor and surrounding area. He served on the Bangor Fire Department for over 25 years, on the City Counsel, and served as police commissioner, building inspector for City of Bangor, was an active member of VBARC, and was president of the Homeowners Association in FL. Surviving are his 3 daughters, Myrna Holsinger of Surprise, AZ, Karen (Lynn) Geresy of Bangor, Sandra (Todd) Harrell of Lake Doster; step-daughter, Kathy (Jim) Strangway of Jenison; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Duane (Thelma) Goss of Bangor, Garold (Diane) Goss of Bristol, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn after 53 years of marriage; his second wife, Enid after 17 years of marriage; son, Ronald Goss; and step-daughter, Sally Colgren. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at the Bangor Church of Christ with Pastor Jeremiah Johnson officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to either the Bangor Church of Christ or to Hospice at Home.
