In this place, on Tuesday the 13th inst., Mrs. Rachel M. Murphy, in the 75th year of her age. She was born in Chestor, dis. South Carolina, March 24th 1776. She was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Rainey,, then an infant her parents were driven from their home by the tories who overran the town.
She was married March 21st, 1794, to - Murphy, who moved to Green county, in 1805, and in the year following - county, Miss. Her consort died Aug. -. in 1840 she moved with her two sons and a daughter to Texas. Her daughter, -, died immediately on her arrival of cholera, at Port Lavaca. She then moved in with her sons in Victoria, where she resided until her death. She was an orderly of the Presbyterian church for 40 years before her death. Her life was one of undeniable piety, and she has gone to realize the fruition of that hope which was an - soul amid the tumultuous scenes of her eventful life.
