LT. WENZEL SCHWABE WILL RETIRE August 28, 1960
Lt. Wenzel Schwabe, 58 of 1024 s 22nd st, announced Monday that he would retire from the Fire Department Aug. 28.
Schwabe was cited by the late Fire Chief Edward Wischer for rescuing a 23 year old woman and a 7 month old baby from a burning apartment in a 3 alarm fire at 101-111 E Mitchell St on Mar. 2, 1957.
He joined the department April 16, 1928 and was promoted to Lieutenant January 16, 1943. He was Lieutenant at truck company 17 at S 56th and W Oklahoma Ave
