Mission / Colleyville - Helen White, 89, formerly of Mission Texas, died 2:45 a.m., September 28 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Grapevine, Texas.

Born October 18, 1927 in Mobeetie, Texas, she was the daughter of Aaron and Lilly Baird.

Helen moved as a child with her family to Raymondville, Texas, where as a high school student she met her future husband Kenneth White. The couple was married September 3, 1949. The couple spent the next 64 years together until his death in June of 2014.

Helen and Kenneth moved to Mission in 1959, where Kenneth was named Principal of Mission High School and District Superintendent in 1965. Kenneth often praised Helen and her loving steadfast support for making it possible for him to serve Mission children for 27 years. "She is the wind beneath my wings," Kenneth would say.

While supporting her husband in his role, Helen was also busy in her own right. She raised two daughters, was a member of First Baptist Mission and active in the Mission Chapter of Eastern Star, where she served in many different roles. She was a generous and giving person and regularly visited nursing homes, bringing cakes and food to those in need and driving friends to doctor appointments and cancer treatments.

In 2008, Helen and Kenneth moved to Heritage Village in McAllen. In 2013 they moved to the Grapevine, Texas.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra (Ike) Fuller of Austin, Texas, and Dee (Richard) Mullinax of Colleyville, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren Kate Mullinax McGaffigan of Dallas, Texas, Rebecca Mullinax Johnson of Euless, Texas, and Chamen and Caley Fuller of Austin, and one sister, Mary (Raymond) Christian.

Her parents, husband, Dr. Kenneth White and five brothers and three sisters preceded Helen in death.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.

Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
