Born in Overton Co., TN and married Sarah born 1811 in VI. With 5 children they traveled to Cow Creek area, Burnet Co., TX by 1856. His and Sarah's children were 1st Jessie Gilbert (Gib); 2nd,Samuel N.; 3rd, James(Jim) P.Stewart my gg grandfather; 4th,Sarah Frances; 5th, son Bird K. Benjamin was active in the Horeb Lodge and donated land for it. He acquired land on the Colorado, Cow Creek and between South Gabriel and Oatmeal Creeks. Before his death he moved to Travis Co. Sarah's death 1899. He was my ggg grandfather.
Both are buried in Travis Co, Teck Cemetery.Benjamin K. & Sarah were originally buried in the Stewart Cemetery on their property on Graveyard Point near Hurst Creek on the Colorado River, (now Lake Travis) but in 1936, with the addition of the Mansfield Dam, which flooded old homesteads and cemeteries, they were moved to Teck Cem., a private cemetery on RR620 Travis Co., TX.

Benjamin K. Stewart was the 4th child of Samuel Stewart & Mary "Polly" Kitchner Stewart. With the promise of free land in Texas, Benjamin K. & Sarah sold out in Overton Co., TN, bringing their family of four boys & one girl; Jessie Gilbert "Gib", Samuel N. , James P. "Jim", Bird K. & Sarah Frances to Texas. They went through Illinois, (probably to visit relatives) then came to Arkansas and spent some time there, travelling with John Gilbert and Benjamin Hansford Stewart; then on to TX, first to Burnet Co. in the early 1850s. They acquired land between South Gabriel and Oatmeal Creeks.

Benjamin was active in the Mount Horeb Lodge - in 1856 deeded 25 acres of land along with 25 acres donated by Samuel Mather for the lodge on which to erect a lodge bldg.. Mt. Horeb Lodge was originally at Gabriel Mills & the Charter was granted 1-21-1854. The lodge continued to function at Gabriel Mills until a fire on 12-19-1915 destroyed the lodge building & its contents.It was rebuilt at Mahomet, TX.

In about 1870, he moved to Travis Co., filed a land grant for 160 acres near the mouth of Cow Creek(Fish Creek) and lived there until his death in 1872.

He purchased other land and altogether owned 1300 acres of land.

They had another son James P. Stewart who is buried in Oatmeal Cem., Burnet Co., TX
