J.F. HESTER SR.
J.F. (Jim) Hester Sr., 75, of 20 Santuck St., City View, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in a local hospital following four days of illness.
Mr. Hester was born Dec. 15, 1885 in Pickens County, a son of the late W.M. and Elizabeth Rackley Hester. He had spent the greater part of his life in Greenville, where he was a Barber for 45 years until his retirement.
Mr. Hester was a Baptist.
He was first married to the late Essie Moon Hester, who died in May 1953.
Surviving of that union are one son, James F. Hester Jr. of Greenville and 3 daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Looper of Easley and Mrs. Gaynell Taylor and Mrs. Lois Batson of Greenville.
His second marriage was to Mrs. Ida A. Hester, who survives him with a step-daughter, Mrs. Bernice Mackey and 2 step-sons, Verner and Dewey Madden of Greenville.
Also surviving are 4 sisters, Mrs. George G. Burrell, Mrs. Thomas L. Harris and Mrs. Addie Fennell of Greenville and Mrs. W.A. Norris of Taylors; 1 brother, Charles Hester of Travelers Rest; 25 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at a place and hour to be announced by Jones Funeral Home. After 3 p.m. today the body will be at the home.
