September 24, 1944 - September 26, 2017 Betty Jean Smith Nicholas, age 73, widow of the late Kenneth Earl Nicholas, passed away Tuesday September 26, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky. She was born September 24, 1944 in Rockcastle County to the late Lee Roy and Josie Mae Damrell Smith. Betty was a member of the Women’s Industrial, she loved to dance, especially clogging, a care giver and mother to all. Betty was of the Baptist faith.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Krystal Nicholas (Phillip Hughes) of Berea, Gloria Smallwood of Berea, Betty (Carlton) Hunt of Berea, one Grandchild Stacy (Kenneth) Kelley of Berea, seven great grandchildren, Natalee Reed, Gary Joshua Reed, Robert Austin Reed, Elizabeth Eversole, Destiny Eversole, Preston Kelley, Kennedy Kelley all of Berea, and two brothers, William (Kathy) Smith of Berea, Ray (Mary) Smith of Berea. Other than her parents and husband Betty was preceded in death by one grandchild Gary Reed, one sister Martha Burnice Rucker, and four brothers, Cecil Smith, Herman Smith, Hampton Smith, and Howard Smith.
