Obituary 27 Sep 1927
One of the most sudden deaths that has occurred in Tyrone for some time was that of Reuben T. Maurer, the well known paper mill employee, at his home, 518 West Nineteenth Street, this morning at seven o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Maurer had an early breakfast and had intended attending the funeral of a relative in Clearfield County. Mr. Maurer got up from the breakfast table and without a moment's warning, he fell back and died almost instantly. Apoplexy caused his demise.
Reuben Thomas Maurer was a son of the late Jacob and Lydia Maurer. He was born October 1, 1858 in Clearfield County. On January 18, 1885 he was united in marriage with Miss Cecilia Plubel, of Frenchville, Clearfield County and in 1892 came to Tyrone to reside, and since then he had been a respected citizen of this place. Mr. Maurer after coming here was employed at the paper mill for nine years and then with J. C. Goheen & company. Later he returned to the mill work and at the time of his death was a beaterman. Surviving his death are the wife and these sons and daughters: Godfrey, Tyrone; Norman, Milesburg; Olie, Lewistown; Mrs. John Phillips, Northwood; Mrs. Robert Morgan, Mrs. John Fulton, Tyrone; Mrs. H. L. Speer, Milesburg; Mrs. Mary Boyke, Detroit; and Miss Josephine, at home. Two children preceded him to the grave. One sister, Miss Mary Rider, of Keewaydin and these brothers survive: J. L. Maurer, of Philipsburg; George Maurer, Allport, and James Maurer, of Cleveland, Ohio.
