The son of Sebastian & Maria Catherine (Staub) Weaver, he married Catherine Cecelia "Kate" Shilling May 10, 1853, in Conewago Chapel, Adams County, and fathered Mary Catherine (b. 02/19/54), Emma Jane (b. 08/08/55), Anna Matilda (b. 09/19/57), John Sebastian (b. 01/27/59), Francis Xavier (b. 11/12/62), William Henry (b. 04/15/65), Matilda Louise (b. 03/07/67), Sarah Veronica (b. @1869 - married John A. Gulden), Louis Edward (b. 03/01/72), Sebastian Henry (b. 10/22/73), and Ignatius Charles (b. 01/04/76). In 1860, he was a laborer living in Mount Pleasant Township, Adams County, and stood 5' 6" tall with light hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Adams County October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service at Gettysburg November 5 as a private with Co. G, 165th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, at Gettysburg.
