Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1968, he married Karen Emma Browning in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vern served an honorable full-time mission in the Eastern States Mission, serving in areas of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania from 1961 to 1963. He held various callings in his wards, and most recently, served as an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple for 10 years. Vern earned his Amateur Radio license while he was in high school (call sign K7ATT, operator class Advanced) and he enjoyed spending time with his radios using the antenna towers he built. He designed and built electronic devices, and he helped invent the technology used in pulse oximeters. He could often be found in his hobby room with the smell of a soldering iron present.
