The Morning Sun News-Herald; T. J. Callahan, 81, long time resident of the Morning Sun community died at 11:20 Tuesday morning at the Lutheran home in Muscatine following a heart attack. Mr. Callahan, a native of Illinois, operated a farm in the Newport vicinity during his active years. Born in March 7, 1885 at Kirkwood, Illinois, Mr. Callahan was married in 1892 to Jessie Smith who passed away in 1926. He later married Molly Swan who died in 1945. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Margaret Fox of Fort Madison; a brother, John Callahan of Galesburg, Illinois, two sisters [sic: daughters], Mrs. R. T. Dotson and Mrs. Earl DeVore of the Newport community; two sons, Dale of Wapello and Fred of this place. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services are to be held at the Presbyterian church this (Thursday)afternoon at 1 o'clock. Burial will be in the Kirkwood, Illinois cemetery.
