She was born March 31, 1907, in Rock Island, the daughter of Henry and Sadie Kessler Wheeler.
She married James Straube in 1928 in Rock Island; he preceded her in death in 1937 [sic, 1935].
She later married Andrew McIlwaine in 1944 in Virden; he preceded her in death in 1970.
A son, James Straube; two daughters, Helen and Lois Straube; and a stepson, Thomas McIlwaine; also preceded her in death.
Mrs. McIlwaine, a homemaker, was a member of the Virden Church of the Nazarene and Virden Senior Citizens. She also worked babysitting and ironing out of her home for many years.
Survivors: a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Bales of Virden; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Virden Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Norlyn Crandall officiating.
Burial: Virden Cemetery.
