Aloysius “Al” Lawrence DeClerk, 77, passed away unexpectedly September 19, 2017 at Five Rivers Medical Center.

Al was born December 12, 1939 in Pocahontas to the late A.C. DeClerk and Helen Liebhaber DeClerk. Al was passionate about flying, Angus cattle and his family.

Al was an avid pilot, past chairman and member of the Pocahontas Municipal Airport Commission. His life work was Engelberg Angus Farm which was started by his father in 1943. He was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and served on their Board of Directors for 8 years. He was also instrumental in the formation of the Northeast Arkansas Angus Association. Al was an active member of many local organizations and cared deeply about his community. He loved and was extremely proud of his daughters and granddaughters and their many accomplishments. Al was larger than life, honest to a fault and was a good friend to many.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Whitlock DeClerk; children, Laura (Terry) Tribble, Elizabeth (Ed) King, Amy (Tim) Fulmer, Paula (Vance Wray) DeClerk; grandchildren, Amanda (Robert) Paul, Paige Tribble, Katherine (Evan) Bates; great-granddaughter, Agnes Paul; brothers Bill (Sherry) DeClerk, David (Mary) DeClerk; sisters, Rosemaire (Jim) Carr, Judy (Perry) Osborn, Kay Reid; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob DeClerk; and brother-in-law Duke Reid.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 3 pm at the Pocahontas Municipal Airport.
