Clarice Kamin Mabin Walker

Clarice K. Walker, 86, of Sister Bay, Wis., formerly of Bloomington, died at 2:40 p.m. March 17, 2002, at Sister Bay, Wis. A private memorial service will be July 13 at the family cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan at Lily Bay east of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. She was born Nov. 28, 1915, in LaGrange, a daughter of William and Willimina Degener Kamin. She married James G. "Jimmie" Mabin in 1932. He preceded her in death. She later married Merton M. Walker on Aug.' 17, 1956. He died Sept 25, 2001, at Bloomington. Survivors include a son, Michael J. (Millirose) Walker, Sister Bay, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Sharon L. Grampp, Shirley; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-greatgrandchildren; and her friend and daughter-in-law, Ramona Walker of Bloomington, the widow of Merton M. Walker's late son, Merton R. Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents and her precious daughter, Marcia A. Diwik, in 1979. Clary attended Lyons Township High School and married her high-school sweetheart shortly after graduation in 1932. They had two children, Marcia Ann in 1938 and Michael James in 1941. She and her second husband, Merton, lived a happily-married life for 45 years, including a retirement in Lakeview, Ark., for 17 years, traveling throughout the world and enjoying the company of friends and loved ones until this past Sept. 25 when her beloved Mertie passed away of natural causes in Bloomington at the age of 91. Clary and Mert were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Clary will be sadly missed by all who knew her. We appreciated her sense of humor and were either warned by a disdainful eye when up to foolishness or warmed by her sweetness, or both. She will always be fondly remembered by those she touched. Her memorial day in July will be devoted to her memory as friends and loved ones will come together to view family photographs, reminisce with "Clary" stories, break bread together and witness her ashes being scattered to mingle with those of the two husbands she loved and walked through life with.
