Eleanor Tressie Heesch was born February 6, 1934 in River Falls, WI to Don and Eda (Kreuziger) Herold. She graduated from Osceola High School in Osceola, WI in 1951, then attended nurses training at Ancker Hospital in St. Paul, MN, graduating in 1954. On November 19, 1955 she married Gerald Heesch in Taylors Falls, MN. The couple lived in Madison, Centerville, Sioux Falls, and Chamberlain, SD until their retirements and moved to Mitchell in 1998. She worked in hospitals in St. Paul, MN, Madison, Sioux Falls, and Chamberlain, SD before becoming a public health nurse for the State of South Dakota, where she worked for 15 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. She enjoyed boating and swimming at the river at Chamberlain. They later enjoyed traveling in their RV, especially the winters spent in Tucson, AZ, where she became an avid fan of the University of Arizona basketball team.
She is survived by two daughters Lois Banaszak, and husband Michael, of Everson, PA and Barbara Canby, and husband Robert, of Edmonds, WA; David Heesch, and wife Monica, of Ham Lake, MN and Daniel Heesch, and wife Stacie, of Mitchell, SD; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers Richard Herold of Taylors Falls, MN and David Herold, and wife Faye, of St. Paul, MN; and special cousin Sally Oklund of San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gerald on May 18, 2010.
