Dr. Garrett Murdered
Dr. John J. Garrett, prominent physician of Rockvale, Rutherford County, was shot and instantly killed by Fred Boyce last Friday.
It seems that Boyce, who was suffering from mastoid trouble had called Dr. Garrett the latter part of last week, and called him again Tuesday afternoon. As the physician entered the room on the latter date without a word from either of the men Boyce shot him dead with a No. 12 shotgun.
Boyce seemed unconcerned about the matter and the only reason he gives for the shooting is that Dr. Garrett on the former visit gave him a dose of turpentine.
He is thought to be insane, and the Garrett family joins in the opinion.

The murder took place in Bedford County. Dr. Garrett was interred at Evergreen Cemetery in Rutherford County, memorial #68442739
