Mrs. Jennie Bell Penland
Mrs. Jennie Bell Penland died last night at her home, 1225 Douglas street, at the age of 71. She was born in Indianapolis, Ind. She lived for many years in Galesburg, Ill., and came to St. Joseph 27 years ago. Mrs. Penland is survived by five sons, Roy Penland, Denver, Colo.; Charles Penland, Wichita, Kan., and Jess, Orville and Carl Penland, all of St. Joseph; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Spicer, Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Goldie Strong, Mrs. Doris Morgan and Mrs. Evaline McCord, all of St. Joseph; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body is at the Barry mortuary, where services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Rev. J. W. Minor will officiate and burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
