Wayne East Rose, age 96, passed away on September 16, 2017 at his home from incidents related to his age.

Wayne was born on January 7, 1921 in Warren, Utah, to Elmer Glen and Irene East Rose. He married Carrie Elizabeth Cardon on January 28, 1942, in Malad, Idaho. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on October 28, 2011 in the Logan LDS Temple. At the time of Carrie’s passing, in July 2014, they had been married for 72 years. They lived in Warren, Utah, all their married life.

He served more than three years with the 59th Signal Corps during World War II in the European Theatre. He was involved in the Siege of Bastogne in Belgium, a key part of the Battle of the Bulge. He was also part of an Honor Flight to Washington DC in May 2015, where veterans were given guided tours of national monuments and honored for their service.

After the war he worked at the Defense Depot of Ogden for 36 years, retiring in January 1970. He also owned and operated a farm since 1951.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His interests included hunting, fishing, riding horses, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by his children and their spouses, Don and LuDale Rose, Plain City; Ron and Debra Rose, Buhl, Idaho; Carl and Lisa Rose, Warren; Dee and Sue Rose, Plain City; and Cheryl and Kraig Bach, Elko, Nevada. He has 11 grandchildren (1 deceased) and 23 great-grandchildren (2 deceased).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Warren Ward Chapel, 856 North 5900 West. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
