Son of Alexander Rifenburgh (1847 - 1894) and Sarah Eliza Rifenburgh (1849 - 1911). Brother to: Emma Rifenburg Feller (1868 - 1933), Claud Rifenburgh (1870 - 1890), Edith A Rifenburgh Worden (1872 - 1924), Alfred B Rifenburgh (1880 - 1892 ), Harold E Rifenburgh (1887 - 1894) and Oliver D. Rifenburgh (1890 - 1891). He married Bertha Mae Shook Rifenburgh (1883 - 1959) and from this union there were six known children: Edith Mabel Rifenburgh (1903–1929), Mattie Belle Rifenburg Bernat (1906–1957), Kenneth W Rifenburg (1909–1979), Alexander M. Rifenburgh Jr. (1911–1991), Harry C. Rifenburg (1913–1966) and Churchill Rifenburg (1917–2013).
