It is with great sadness that the Avila family announces the passing of our loving mother and Vava, Rita Avila, on Monday, September 11, 2017, at the age of 92. Rita was born in Caruthers, CA on August 29,1925 to Jose and Rita Alves. On January 3,1951 she married Lionel Avila, in San Jose, CA.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Rita Alves, husband, Lionel, seven older brothers, Joe Alves, John Alves, Alphonso Alves, Frank Alves, Tony Alves, Louie Alves and Manuel Alves.
She is survived by her son, James Avila and wife Claudia of Riverdale, daughter, Gloria Vaughn and husband David, of Laton. Three grandchildren, Leanne Stumpf (TJ), of Laton, Kevin Menezes (Marisa) of Hanford and Aaron Avila of Riverdale. Seven great-grandchildren, Breanna Ramos, Tyler Gregory, Travis Gregory, Jessica Menezes, Dalaney Menezes, Ryder Menezes and Brody Menezes.
Rita will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and love of family. She was the most joyous when surrounded by family. The more the merrier! Momava you will be missed at our Sunday lunches as we see your empty chair. Our love for you is unending and we will hold you in our hearts until we meet again.
Burial at Lemoore Cemetery.
