Rev. Anna Gay Perkins Nuckles, age 80 of Lebanon, Virginia passed away Friday (September 15, 2017) at her home. Born August 27, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Brown Perkins. A devoted Christian since the age of 16, her heart’s desire was to see sinners come to repentance. She loved the Lord and her family and was never ashamed to minister to others; her faith was evident in everything she did. She exemplified the description of a virtuous woman as described in Proverbs chapter 31. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a faithful prayer warrior, and a member of Grace Fellowship Church of God in Hansonville, Virginia.
In addition to her birth parents, she was preceded in death by the parents who raised her, Walter and Meg Perkins; her husband of fifty-nine years, Rev. Ellis Nuckles; several half-brothers, half-sisters and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include four children, Anthony Ralph Nuckles and wife, Lori of Garner, North Carolina, Bishop Timothy Marshall Nuckles and wife, Sharon of Fenton, Michigan, Ricky Dale Nuckles and wife, Teresa of Richlands, Virginia and Elizabeth Ann Nuckles Durham and husband, Barry of Talbott, Tennessee; one honorary son, Mike Johnson and wife, Connie of Seymour, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, Courtney Nuckles Dean and husband, Bradley, Stephen Wayne Nuckles, Sydney Phelps, Lexi Phelps, Christopher Marshall Nuckles and wife, Pattie, Brandon Pendry Nuckles and wife, Hannah, Shane Kiser, Shonda Nuckles Ollis and husband, Christopher, Derrick Lee Nuckles and wife, Katie, Michael Ellis Durham, Matthew Dale Durham and Meagan Elizabeth Durham; ten great-grandchildren, Katie Anne Dean, Troy Allen Dean, Haley Jade Russell, Eleana Claire Ollis, Josiah Marshall Nuckles, Chloe Monroe Nuckles, Isaac Ellis Nuckles, Scarlett Rose Ollis, Judah Adair Nuckles, and Weston Oliver Phelps; one expected great-grandchild; one brother, Tolby Perkins and wife, Ruby; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ada and Brady Farmer, Alice Farmer and Arthur Nuckles; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Timothy Nuckles and Pastor Anthony Yul Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Nuckles, Derrick Nuckles, Brandon Nuckles, Stephen Nuckles, Michael Durham, Matthew Nuckles, Daniel Nuckles and Brian Hess.
Honorary pallbearers will be Delmar Hess, Darrell Dye, Larry Sykes, Nolan Farmer and Stan Compton.
The family will receive friends after 5 PM Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home where a Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in the form of donations to the Grace Fellowship Church of God Building Fund; P.O. Box 1651, Lebanon, Virginia 24266.
