"Albert F Rappold of 55 Second street died at 6 o'clock Saturday evening after an illness of nearly two years of a complication of diseases, at the age of about 61 years. Deceased had for thirty years been a respected citizen of Titusville, and for twenty years was the foreman of the acid works at Boughton, a small station on the WNY&P about three miles south of this city. Mr Rappold was a man of inventive genius and patented a number of appliances used in the manufacture of acid, among them being a valve and an improved glass retort. Although unassuming and modest, he was a gentleman of many admirable qualities and esteemed not only as a faithful and industrious employe, but also as a good citizen. Deceased was born in Wuertemburg, Germany, in 1837, and came to this country in 1864. For a time he resided at Jamestown, NY, where he followed his trade - that of a cabinet maker. He afterwards removed to this city, and when the acid works were built accepted a responsible position, remaining with company until his last illness. He is survived by his widow and four children, Albert T, Mary, Frederick and Henry Rappold. Mr Rappold was a member of Titusville Tent, No 24, KOTM, and Titusville Lodge, DOH, No 120, and carried an insurance of $2,000 in the former and $300 in the latter order. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the family residence. The interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery."
