Francis T. Bendus, 87, of Bethlehem Township, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017. He was born in White Haven, PA, the son of the late Stella (Radjavitch) and Michael Bendus. He was the loving husband of the late Susan B. (Franczak) Bendus for 60 years. Francis met his wife Susan while they were both proudly serving their country as members of the United States Army. Francis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem, where he directed the 8:00 am Mass Choir. Francis was also involved with the St. Francis Retreat House choir for many years. He enjoyed fishing in Canada and vacationing in Anna Maria, FL. He was an excellent cook and baker, having learned these skills from his mother and passed them on to his children and grandchildren. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Robert F. Bendus and his partner, Lindsay, Susan Hitcho and her husband Stephen, Mary Ellen Kavanagh and her husband Thomas, and Barbara Bendus-Dicker; brother, Jack Bendus; sister, Florence Gower, and 8 grandchildren. Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Bendus, son, David Bendus, and brother, Joseph Bendus. Services: A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Bethlehem, 1817 First St. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
