William J. Hinderman, 74, of Belfair, died January 26 at his home.

He was born February 16, 1914 in the Nelitta area near Hood Canal. He grew up there and attended grade schools near Union. He then went to Saint Mary's Catholic School near Hillsboro, Oregon.

During the 1930's he spent three years working with the Civilian Conservation Corps. After that he logged in the Yacult and Amboy areas of Clark County and drove logging trucks near Tillamook, Oregon.

Mr. Hinderman served with the US Coast Guard during World War II and after the war he drove trucks for Garrett Freight Lines from Portland to Pendleton, Oregon. He also drove for Time D.C. Truck Lines from Portland to Eureka, California from 1955 to 1976.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, working in his yard and on his home. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and of the Professional Drivers of Oregon.

Mr Hinderman married his wife, Jane in 1952 in Stevenson.

His wife survives him at the family home. Other survivors are his three daughters, Kathleen Clark of Vashon Island, Judi Davis of Harwood, Maryland, and Leslie Bushee of Renton. He leaves eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
