The son of Nelson & Jane (Tutwiler) Day, he married Hannah Catharine Hoffman and fathered Nancy Jane (b. 06/28/51 - married James A. Miller), Mary Elizabeth (b. 01/10/54, d.
A Civil War veteran, please note that the regiment shown on the tombstone is incorrect. There is no record of anyone named George Day or any spelling close to it found in any company roster of the 166th Pennsylvania Infantry. The subject of this post served two terms of service as follows:
1. Enlisted at the stated age of thirty-three in York Springs, Adams County, August 8, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 13 as a private with Co. I, 127th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 29, 1863.
2. Enlisted at the stated age of thirty-six in Harrisburg February 24, 1865, mustered into federal service there March 1 as a private with the 101st Pennsylvania Infantry in the second organization of Co. C, and honorably discharged with his company June 25, 1865.

In 1890, he was living in Huntington Township, Adams County. He died at the reported age of 64-4-10, but no obituary was found in any online newspaper archive.
