Peter was born in Boston and lived there all of his life, until he enlisted in the Marines 21 August 1968, at a Boston Recruiting Office.
When Peter arrived in Vietnam 17 February 1969, he was assigned to 3rd Platoon of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Peter was on a squad size patrol when he tripped a hostile booby trapped 105MM round,
just 6 kilometers west southwest of Dien Ban, during Operation Pipestone Canyon. Peter died May 31, as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the body, at 1345H while receiving medical treatment aboard the Naval Hospital of wounds that he sustained, at approximately 0945H on May 20.
Survived by his parents, Robert and Florence Adams of 104 Norfolk, Dorchester, MA.
LCpl Adams was featured in the June 27, 1969 LIFE magazine article entitled "Faces of the American Dead in Vietnam: One Week's Toll."
