Bernard Michael Fesenmaier was born on 3 December 1924, to Joseph and Gertrude Veronica Fernbaugh Fesenmaier. He attended school in New Ulm and graduated from Morton High School in 1942. Bernard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On 8 October 1949, he married Marjorie Zetah, the daughter of John and Anna Swoboda Zetah in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. They lived in Olivia for many years where he retired after working for 33 years with the Elk River Concrete Company of Olivia.

Bernard was a member of the Olivia Ambulance team, and was a firearms safety instructor for several years in Olivia and Morton. He was a member of the Olivia American Legion.

Bernard Michael Fesenmaier, of Olivia, died at the age of 66, on Friday, 8 February 1991, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota.

He was survived by his wife, Marjorie; ten children: David of Elk River, Cheryl (Tom) Carlson of Eden Prairie, Robert of Danube, Jayne (Jim) Boersma and Russel all of Olivia; Gregory of Burnsville, Lee, Dean, and Scott all of St. Cloud, and Judy (Marty) Mathis of Edina; mother, Gertrude Fesenmaier of Olivia; four brothers, Richard, Donald, and Charles deWerd all of Arizona and Theodore deWerd of Montana; and 12 grandchildren.

Bernard was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Edward deWerd.

Visitation was from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, 11 February 1991, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, 12 February, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia.

Bernard was buried in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
