Charles D. Dickey, Sr., age 55, died Saturday, September 9, 2017.

He was the son of Donald N. and Guadalupe Dickey.

Charles served his Country in the United States Army and retired from the National Guard with 22 years of service.

He was employed at the Joliet Armory for many years and recently received an Illinois Realtors License.

Charles enjoyed all sports, was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed reading.

He was a devoted father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Although his absence will be hard to accept, we will find strength knowing he is in a better place. He will live in our hearts forever.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (nee Salazar); children, Constance Lindsay Dickey, Charles D. Dickey, Jr. and Jasmine Eileen Dickey; his parents; siblings, Rose Chavez, Frank (Sheryl) Dickey and Margaret Dickey; his canine companion, Sandy; sisters-in-law, Dora Salazar, Rosie (Jaime) Guajardo, and Linda Salazar; brothers-in-law; Joseph (Rita) Salazar, David Salazar, Richard Salazar and Daniel (Earl Nowak) Salazar. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Gilbert Sr. and Concepcion Salazar; and brothers-in law, Kevin Glass, Gilbert Jr., Ernest and Peter Salazar.

Arrangements entrusted to the the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet.

Interment to follow with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Army at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
