Whelden E. Luse

Whelden "Bud" E. Luse, 79, of Elwood, died April 10, 2006, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Tipton County, to Thomas E. and Edna E. (Bennett) Luse. He had been married for 36 years to his wife, Carolyn (Boll) Luse, whom he married July 17, 1959.

He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Bud retired Jan. 1, 1987 from Delco Remy in Anderson; after 35 years of service. He attended the Grace Chapel Church in Anderson. He was a life member of the Elwood VFW, Elwood Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge and the UAW Local 662. He loved spending time with his family and at his lakeside home.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Luse; two daughters, Deborah DePaoto of Elwood and Lea Ann and husband, Chris Haas of Elwood; two sons, Michael W. Luse of Elwood and Thomas W. Luse of Elwood; two sisters, Bonnie and husband, Jack Weismiller of Tipton and Trecy and husband, Jack Gamer of Kokomo; 12 grandchildren,, Jessica and husband, Brian Parker of Elwood, Amber Luse, Jeremy Luse, Joshua Parker, Robert Luse, Jonathan Parker, Justin Haas, Brittany DePaolo, Derek Haas, Aaron Haas and Ethan Haas of Elwood and Dustin Luse of Anderson; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Badie Pierce and a sister, Martha Etchison.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday,, April 14, 2006, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Jimison officiating. Burial will follow at the Elwood City Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Elwood VFW. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Elks will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday.
