MILROY -- Services for Florene Lewis 78, of Milroy, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation at the funeral home will begin one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Milroy.
Mrs. Lewis died Saturday Dec. 6, 1997, at the Divine Providence Care Center Hospital in Ivanhoe.
Florene Agnes Kelly was born July 18, 1919 in Yale, Ill., to Tom and Goldie (Huddleston) Kelly. She grew up in Illinois and graduated from Kasey High School in 1937. On July 22, 1929, she and Glenn Lewis were married in Morganfield, Ky. and they moved to the Milroy and Lucan area. They farmed near Lucan and Milroy until 1960. She was a member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Milroy. She was a housewife and enjoyed sewing for her children, reading books, square dancing and watching soap operas. She also enjoyed listening to music.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Volling of Pemberton and Marian Arndt of Tyler; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three honorary grandchildren; brother, Dale Kelly of Kasey, Ill.; and sisters Helen Hillard and Inez Sumption of Newman, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and a sister.
