JOHN W. EDMONDS WAS BURIED HERE SUNDAY
Former Pickens County Citizen Succumbs at Home in Caledonia, MS
John W. Edmonds, age 82, died at his home in Caledonia, MS, Saturday and was buried here Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
The funeral services were held at the Carrollton Cemetery with Rev. T.W. Smallwood of Caledonia officiating, Fosters Funeral Home in charge. The body was brought to the home of T.S. Lipsey here, where family and friends had assembled, from where the funeral procession advanced to the local cemetery. Pallbearers were the grandsons of Mr. Edmonds. William Lipsey, Robert Lipsey, Royland Prowell, J.B. Prowell, Winston Prowell and Earl Stringfellow. Ladies of the flower committee were Mesdams Clyde Egger, C.C. Egger, Siddie Thomas, J.H. Egger and T.F. Groves.
Mr. Edmonds was born and raised in Pickens County, and resided in Carrollton for many years, later moving to Reform community, and from there to Columbus, MS.
He is survived by his widow, Lucretia A. Mullins Edmonds, and three daughters, Mrs. T.S. Lipsey, Mrs. W.T. Lipsey of Carrollton, and Mrs. Roy Egger of Caledonia, MS. Mrs. Edmonds is very ill and not expected to live long after the passing of her husband.
