Joe T. Bell, age 84, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Bell was born on November 1, 1932, in Arkansas to the late Doy Bell and Bernice Bowen Bell.

Survivors include: his wife, Doris C. Bell of Douglas, Ga.; daughter, Jolynne Bell of Dexter, Mo.; grandson whom he reared, Adam Bell of Douglas, Ga.; stepdaughter, Melanie McKinnon of Columbia, SC; three brothers, Chester (Jeanette) Bell of Sikeston, Mo, Charlie (Carolyn) Bell of Dexter, Mo, and Kenneth (Debbie) Bell of Dexter, Mo.; sister, Dorothy Barnes of Kalamazoo, Mi.; four grandchildren, Lacey J. (Randy) Nugent, John Jowers, Hannah Gibson, and Jasen (Frankie) Ao; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Bell; two daughters, Ruth Ann Jowers and Denise Bell; a grandson, Jerod Alan Gibson; and two brothers, Steve Bell and George Ellis Bell.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Woodruff and Jerry Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
