He was the son of Wallace D. and Albine O'Neil Vivyan.
In 1912, in Utica he married Evah J. Thomas.
Surviving besides his wife, is one son, Howard G., of Utica; two grandsons, Thomas of Columbus, Ohio and James, of Utica; three great-grandsons, Matthew of Utica, Thomas J. and Brett of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
