Funeral services for James Moody Boyd, age 92, of Kaufman Texas will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 202 South Washington Street, Kaufman TX with Reverend Dr. Brent Gentzel officiating. Military graveside honors will follow at Kemp Cemetery with Phillip Randall, Timothy Randall, Stephen Randall, Jason Fuqua, John Davis, and Wallace Boyd as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be LtC Jerry Brooks, USAF (Ret.), MSgt Dennis Patrick, USAF (Ret.), Philip Boyd, Dan McCullough, Ken Searcy, Derek Gracy, Bryan Wood, and Bob Butler. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Anderson Clayton Bros Funeral Home, Kaufman TX. Mr. Boyd passed away on Monday, September 04, 2017 at his home in Kaufman TX. James M Boyd was born on November 25, 1924 in Combine TX, the son of Loren Boyd and Ethel Mae Cornelison Boyd. He married Martha Jane Brooks of Kemp TX on May 1, 1949 in Kemp TX. She preceded him in death on August 6, 2008. Mr. Boyd worked in the air-conditioning business in Dallas. He served in the United States Army, 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War II, and was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, (which represents second and subsequent entitlements of awards), the WWII Victory Medal, WWII Army of Occupation Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, the European – African – Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, and his unit was awarded the Army Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Boyd was a member of the First Baptist Church, Kaufman and sang in the Chancel Choir until January 2017. He is survived by sisters, Vivian Little of Mesquite, Etta Mae Wright and husband Jerry Wright of Dallas, daughters, Connie Boyd Randall and husband David of Kaufman, daughter Nina Boyd Patrick and husband Dennis of Kaufman, Grandsons Phillip Randall and wife Cindy of Red Oak TX, Timothy Randall and wife Melissa of South Bend IN, Stephen Randall and Kevin Doss Randall of Chicago IL, granddaughters Charisa Randall Fuqua and husband Jason of Livonia MI, Catherine Randall Davis and husband John of Farmington Hills MI , eleven great grandchildren: Rebekah Randall, Mary Randall, Ruby Randall, Hannah Randall, Amelia Randall, Evelyn Randall, Owen Randall, Linus Fuqua, Delia Mae Fuqua, Adelene Calisto Fuqua, and Sebastian Hartley Davis. In addition, many beloved nieces and nephews survive him.
