Eugene “Abe” Adams, 90, of Catawissa passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Maria Hall, Danville, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Catawissa on March 11, 1927, he was a son of the late Roy and Florence E. (Berninger) Adams. He was a graduate of Catawissa High School and served honorably in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Abe started working as a teller at First National Bank, which later became South Side National Bank, then became First Eastern Bank, and finally PNC Bank. He retired as an assistant vice president after 39 years.

Eugene was a former member of First Methodist Church in Catawissa. He was a 50-year member of the Catawissa Masonic Lodge, now the Elysburg Masonic Lodge 349, a 50-year member of the Catawissa American Legion, and a 50-year member of the Bloomsburg Caldwell Consistory. He was also the treasurer of the Catawissa Borough for 35 years. In his spare time, Eugene liked to look up his family’s genealogy. He was also an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 63 years, Glovene (Bickert) Adams, Catawissa; son, Stephen Adams, and wife, Tammy, Carlisle; and granddaughter, Rachel Adams, and her fiancé, Hershel Tichnell. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Dawn Adams, Catawissa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Adams.

A graveside memorial service will take place on Sept. 8, 2017, at 1 p.m. in Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with Chaplain Chris Dunlap officiating.
