She was the daughter of Bert and Mary (Leffel) Pickering. On Oct 3, 1954, in Spencerville, she married Ramon D. Rickner, who survives in Van Wert.
Also surviving are three daughters: Carol J. (Kevin) Gehres, Wren, Mary A. (William) Alvarez, Van Wert, and Peg D. (John) Baylin, Dublin; a brother, Richard E. Pickering, Chandler, AZ; a sister, Nancy J. Allbaugh, Sun City West, AZ; and ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Bert, Jr.; and a sister, Carol L. Allbaugh.
Retired in 1995 from Van Wert County Hospital, she worked 41 years as a registered nurse. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading. Being a nurse and caregiver was truly her calling in life.
Services will be at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory, Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, at a later date.
