He was the son of Walter H. Meyers & Corda Faye Dowell. His wife was Karen Ruth Johnson who he married on June 5, 1960. They had four daughters together:
Shannon, Dionne, Amy and Erica MEYERS.

Earl Laverne Meyers, age 64, of Dwight, KS, passed away on March 4, 1999, at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. He was born April 4, 1934 in southeast Geary County.
Earl was a graduate of Alta Vista Rural High School. He attended Emporia State Teachers College at Emporia, and graduated from Electronics Institute in Kansas City.
He married Karen Ruth Johnson on June 5, 1960.
He worked at Marshall Field at Fort Riley as an electronic technician for 30 years, retiring in 1995 because of health reasons. He was a member of the Marion Hill Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He also served as a 4-H leader for many years and was completing his 16th year of serving on the USD 147 school board, serving as president for two years. He also was a member of Dwight City Council and Isis Shrine.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Shannon Annette Meyers, Parsons, Dionne Irl Becker, Wichita, Amy Renee Meyers and Erica Marie Meyers, both of Dwight; a brother, Roy C. Scott, Arvada, CO; two sisters, Roemaine McCabe, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Henrietta Conwell, Denver, CO; a grandson, nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held on March 8th, at the Marion Hill Lutheran Church, northwest of Dwight. Burial followed in Marion Hill Cemetery. Kendall Funeral Chapel in Council Grove handled arrangements.
