Pansy Jeanette Moors (nee Carley) entered into eternal rest on August 28, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. She succumbed to complications of lung diseases, and vascular dementia. She was born on August 10, 1930, in McPherson, KS, to Lemuel Alphus and Pansy Mabry Carley. Lem worked as a jobber (wholesaler) for Phillips 66 fuels, and Pansy cared for their children. Jeanette was the sixth-born, of the couple's seven daughters.
Jeanette graduated from McPherson High School. While in high school, she worked at King's Drug Store as a soda jerk. During this time, she met her future husband Bud Moors. Three days after graduation she and Bud were married on May 22, 1948. Later that summer the young couple moved to their own farm near Rose Hill, KS.
Those early days on the farm Jeanette, among other things learned how to feed livestock, drive big grain trucks, and even drive the tractors. Once Jeanette's two sons were school-age she got a job working at a bank in Wichita. Soon after she was hired at the bank in Rose Hill, and worked there almost 20 years. As the boys were growing up, Jeanette was very busy with their activities. She was a Den Mother while the boys were in Cub Scouts, and then came baseball. Jeanette served as communications director, food and beverage manager, transportation supervisor, president of the team's fan club, and official scorekeeper for her sons' teams. And, she assisted Bud in the administration youth baseball programs in Rose Hill.
In 1980, Lear Jet offered Bud the opportunity to transfer to their new facility in Tucson. Over the years, Jeanette and the family had made a few family trips to Arizona to visit Bud's brother in Phoenix. They thought Arizona could be a place to which they could enjoy life. So they moved to Tucson. Mom worked here several years in an insurance office.
Once in Tucson she also enjoyed working in the yard, hiking in Sabino Canyon, and exploring around southern Arizona. Jeanette was a member of Christ Community Church for more than 30 years. She worked with Bud in the church's Welcome Center for several years.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Virginia Lee Carley, Marjorie Baudino, Jimmie Olson, Teddie Todeschi, Freda Peterson, and in May of this year, by Bud, her husband of nearly 69 years.
She is survived by her sister Una Bee Carley-Miller of Athens, TX; son Steve (Linda) of Tucson, son Dave (Pam McCormick) of Wichita, grandsons Grant and Matthew, granddaughters Rebecca Lathrom and Kylie Zimmerman, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing is scheduled for Friday, September 1, at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery, 5801 East Grant Road in Tucson. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m.
