Thaddeus D. “Thad” Meese, 85, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Thaddeus Dean Meese was born July 20, 1932, on the family farm northeast of Ord, Nebraska to James A. and Helen (Zikmund) Meese. He was raised on the family farm and received his early education in country schools then graduated from Ord High School in 1949.
On April 26, 1954, Thad was united in marriage to Roberta John at Ord, Nebraska. The couple made their home on Thad’s family farm. Thad farmed and raised cattle his entire life.
Thad loved his farm work. He had a passion for horses and at an early age he began to break horses. Thad and Roberta were Cornhuskers fans and attended many of the Home and Bowl Football games. They enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the U.S. Thad enjoyed his family and many friends and was the “spark” of their conversations.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Ord Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Roberta of Ord; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Allen Woitalewicz of Ord; two granddaughters, Sarah and Derek Trotter of Bellevue and Melissa Woitalewicz of
Lincoln; and three great-grandsons, Thaddeus Dean, Noah William and Jacob Daniel Trotter all of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clint Meese; a brother, James Meese and three sisters, Rita Wiberg, Lillian Owen and Martha Stahlecker.
