Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Shanks was the daughter of Abner and his second wife Elizabeth (Cline) Shanks. She was born in 1855 in Iowa. In 1865 the family moved west to Marion Co., Oregon. On April 27, 1873 Maggie married Milton M. Anderson at the house of her parents, her father Elder Abner Shanks officiating.
Maggie and Milton had 11 children, 9 of whom were still living in 1900 according to the census records. After Milton died in 1907 Maggie married a second time in 1909 to James Madison Calavan. After he died she was married a third time to J. Frank Savage on March 11, 1923.
