Lydia Elizabeth "Betty" Buckthorpe, age 89, died August 30, 2017 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri.

Born March 11, 1928 in Charleston, Missouri to the late James Edward and Ruby (Golightly) Arnold, she attended First Christian Church and had worked as a Registered Nurse for Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Missouri before retiring.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sons, James D. "Jim" Baker Jr. and George R. Baker II; three brothers, Bob, Buddy and Charles; and three sisters, Mary, Ruth Ann and Ruby Jane.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Jim Baker of St. Charles, Missouri and Rhiannon Wilson of Cairo, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Mia Baker and Ryleigh Baker; six nieces; and three nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 1, from 12:00 noon until time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Mary McCord will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery at Charleston, Missouri.
