Hastings resident, Bernard J. DeTour, 93, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Edgewood Vista, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Bernard was born February 16, 1924 in Bladen, Nebraska to Fred & Anna (Hynes) DeTour. He graduated from Holstein High School in 1941. Bernard married Janice Katzberg on May 10, 1958 in North Platte, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army from January 19, 1949 to November 18, 1951.

Bernard was employed as a crane operator with Werner Construction until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the American Legion and was Vice Commander of District 10.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Hoatson and Irene Koch; and brother Leo DeTour.
