Obituary of Mrs. Richie Kincaid
Rayville, Mo., R.2.- (Written for the Missourian by A.C. Kincaid, Old Chip)- Mrs. Elizabeth Kincaid, wife of Richie Kincaid, departed this life at J. C. Kincaid's, her son, in Lawson, January 12th, 1914. Mrs. Kincaid, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Harber, was born in Nichols County, Kentucky, Nov. 20th, 1837. At the age of fourteen years she, with her parents, moved to Ray County, Missouri, where she lived until her death.
In girlhood she united with the Church of Christ at New Haven School House in the eastern part of Ray County. At the age of twenty-three she was united in marriage to Henry Wild. To this union one child was born- Mrs. Clate Kincaid. On Sept. 8th, 1862, Mr. Wild died, leaving Mrs. Wild and one daughter to survive him.
On October 13th, 1881, Mrs. Wild was married to Richie Kincaid who survives her. Besides her husband, she leaves one child, Mrs. Clate Kincaid, two step children, J. Clate Kincaid and Mrs. Lydia Weiss. Two brothers, Tom and Eddie Harber, and two sisters, Mrs. Eri Mullin and Mrs. Eliza Kincaid.
Mrs. Kincaid's funeral was preached at Antioch church at 11 a.m., January 14, 1914, by Rev. F. W. Gilbert. Burial at the Wild Cemetery.
The writer of this sketch has known the deceased for more than forty years. During this long period her name has been above reproach. Her life has been that of a devoted christian. During the last many years she has suffered great pain with the rheumatism and other diseases. She bore it all without a murmur. She is now gone to her home above.
