William Dale Ashburn, age 74, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in his home surrounded by family.

A graveside service and burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery Wednesday September 6th at 4 p.m. The service will be officiated by Dr. Trey Turner. A meal and time of remembrance will be held at Church at Wazeecha, located at 8016 County Road FF, immediately following the service.

William worked for Preway for 18 ½ years. He also worked for Edgewater Haven Nursing Home for over two decades as a Nurse Aid. He had a love for people who were elderly, disabled and in need. He compassionately served people.

William was an accomplished artist. He was a brilliant painter of ceramics. He taught for many years the art of ceramic painting. When he stopped doing ceramics he donated his supplies to an agency that works with the disabled. He loved his family, friends and his dogs.

William is survived by his husband, Tidal; his wonderful daughter Toyann (and her special friend DuWayne Cordy) of Stevens Point, WI, his sister Laura (Steve) Vechinski, and brother Robert (Bonnie) Ashburn of King and Wisconsin Rapids, WI.) William is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him more than he ever imagined.

William was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ashburn whom he shared 26 beautiful years with; both of his parents, George and Carleain Ashburn, two brothers Jerry Ashburn and Carl Ashburn. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family as well as Church at Wazeecha. The family wanted to also thank the UW Aspirus Cancer Center. In addition, the family thanks with full hearts of love Ministry Home Hospice of Wisconsin. The nurses and the aids supplied love, care support and for a brief moment were part of our family. We thank them for their amazing nurturing care to our family.
