LaRae Kathrine (Ballinger) Steffen, 79, of Victorville, Ca. went home to Heaven to meet her Lord on August 16, 2017. She passed away at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton Ca.
LaRae was born on March 14, 1938 in LaMoure, ND to Ernest & Margaret Ballinger. She lived on a farm near Bear Creek in LaMoure County, ND. She attended Hansen Country School and Verona High School in Verona ND where she played basketball. She enjoyed the farm life and riding through the wheat fields with her father in his Diamond T truck. She liked ‘playing the piano’ and ‘singing opera’ to her mother.
LaRae married Richard William Steffen on May 5, 1955 and they moved to California. They had three boys: David Richard, Mitchel Guy and Ernest Wayne. Richard passed away in 1982. LaRae went to beautician school and was a hair dresser. Later in life LaRae was a speaker & sponsor at AA meetings and helped many people. Her favorite book was Jesus Calling which she read everyday during her devotions.
LaRae is survived by her son David (Sharon) of Hesperia, CA and their daughters April, Brandy & Crystal; granddaughter Nicole (Michael) Ortiz; three great granddaughters Makayla, Angel, and Clarissa ; two great grandsons Iziah & Michael and her brother Robert ‘Ty’ (Artis) Ballinger of Moses Lake, WA. Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons; Mitchel and Ernest Steffen, brother Lester ‘Bud’ Ballinger, sisters; Louva Joy Busche and Ernesteen Peterson.
Viewing, services and interment will be held August 30, 2017 at 10 am at Sunset Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, Apple Valley, Ca. Pastor James Munyi officiating.
