Willie Mae was born September 19, 1928 in Monticello (Selma), Arkansas and was the first child of 13 siblings. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Sixteen Section Baptist Church, Monticello, Arkansas. She was united in holy Matrimony with George Ferrell on March 7, 1953. To this union two children were born. Her Husband George, son Carl Ferrell and three brothers- Adrain, Earl and Curtis Briggs-preceded her in death.
Willie Mae is survived by her daughter Luverna (James) Richie, daughter-in-law Martha Ferrell and four grandsons Carl Jr., George Haloit, Joe Andrew and Robert Edward, stepdaughter Janette Gatlin and step grandson Justin Gatlin. She is also survived by three sisters; Narvel May of Grand Prairie, Texas. Thelma Briggs of Monticello, Arkansas, Gladys Briggs of Chicago, Illinois and five brothers Edward Briggs (Earline) Acton, Massachusetts, Jesse Lee Briggs (Lucille) of Flint Michigan, William T. Briggs, Jr. (Nora) of Dermott, Arkansas, Virgil Briggs of Monticello, Arkansas, Bennie Joe Briggs (Mary) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, ten grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Willie Mae was a devoted wife who spent many years traveling with her military husband to several Military Installations in the United States and Germany. She enjoyed sewing, decorating her home, and talking pictures.∼Wife of George Ferrell
