Dorothy Ellen "Dot" Hunt
May 29, 1925- December 16, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA— Dorothy Ellen "Dot" Hunt, 80, of Columbus, GA died at The Medical Center of Columbus, GA Friday, December 16, 2005. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Monday, December 19, 2005 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Reverend Andy Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00PM this afternoon at the funeral home. Mrs. Hunt was born May 29, 1925 in Harris County, GA daughter of the late Charlie Alexander Lewis and Clara Belle Fincher Lewis. She was active in the community. She was a member of the Oglethorpe Chapter of the DAR, the Eastern Star and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Hunt had retired from the Columbus Health Department as a Secretary. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, George Eley Hunt, Jr. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Hunt-Clark and her husband, Terry, Nancy Hunt-McGuire and her husband, Frank all of Gainesville, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, George Eley Hunt, III and his wife, Cathy of Hampton, VA; two sisters, Edna Pritchett of Lawrenceville, GA and Sybil Allen of LaGrange, GA; six grandchildren, Shannon Farmer, Brent Barron, Brady Barron, Blake Barron, Amanda Hunt and Elyse Hunt; many nieces, nephews and friends.
